Amazon’s FBA New Selection Program Deadline Is October 31. Is Your Next Launch Covered?

New product launch pad with an October 31 FBA New Selection deadline calendar

If you have any branded ASINs launching between now and the end of the year, mark October 31 on your calendar. That is when Amazon’s FBA New Selection Program (2026) stops automatically covering new listings, and if you have not confirmed your enrollment by then, every branded product you launch after that date starts life at full referral fee rates with no cushion. For a seller planning Q4 or Q1 launches, that is real money left on the table for no reason other than not knowing the clock was running.

What the New Selection Program Actually Pays For

Amazon rolled out this version of the program on July 30, 2026, replacing the older New Selection incentive structure. It is aimed squarely at branded products entering Fulfillment by Amazon for the first time, and the benefits are more generous (and arrive faster) than the previous version.

Here is what a qualifying, newly listed branded ASIN gets:

  • Referral fee caps at the point of sale. The first 100 units sold are capped at a 10% referral fee, or your existing category rate if that is lower. The next 100 units are capped at 5%. Unlike the old program, which paid these back as a monthly rebate, the discount now applies instantly when the sale happens.
  • $75 in Vine credits and $50 in coupon credits, both usable within 60 days of the listing going live.
  • Logistics fee waivers for 120 days after your first FBA shipment, covering up to 200 units. This includes storage fees, storage utilization surcharges, low-inventory-level fees, customer returns processing fees, and liquidation fees.
  • An extra 45 days added to those windows if you launch through Amazon’s Vine Pre-launch service.

To put a number on it, a $30 item selling at a 15% category referral rate could generate roughly $450 in fee credit across the first 200 units. If your category already sits at a low referral rate (8% is a common floor in several categories), the Tier 1 credit shrinks toward zero since there is no room left to discount, so the value of this program depends heavily on your category.

The October 31 Deadline, Explained

This is the part that trips people up, because there are actually two dates in play, not one.

From July 30 through October 31, 2026, sellers who were already enrolled in the prior version of the New Selection Program get automatic introductory coverage carried over. Any ASIN you already had enrolled keeps running on its existing benefit schedule.

After October 31, that automatic bridge disappears. To receive 2026-tier benefits on branded ASINs listed after the deadline, you need to have confirmed your enrollment in the New Selection dashboard inside Seller Central. Miss the confirmation and new listings launched after October 31 do not get the referral fee caps, the Vine and coupon credits, or the logistics waivers. Benefits you already earned on ASINs enrolled before the deadline are not clawed back, but the door closes for anything launched after it without confirmation on file.

There is a related but separate concept worth understanding here too: grandfathering. If you enrolled an ASIN under the prior New Selection Program before July 30, it does not automatically roll into the new 2026 program. It keeps running under the old terms until either its original benefit window runs out or October 31 arrives, whichever comes first. Either way, October 31 is the hard stop where legacy benefit accrual ends.

Who Actually Qualifies

Not every launch is eligible, so it is worth checking your specific ASINs against the requirements before you assume the credit is coming:

  • The product must be a branded, new-to-FBA parent ASIN, meaning no seller has shipped it into FBA in the trailing 12 months.
  • You need an active Professional selling plan in good (or vacation) standing.
  • Your trailing six-month Inventory Performance Index needs to be 300 or higher, if Amazon has assigned you a score.
  • Only standard-size and non-standard-size items qualify. Books, DVDs, music, software, video games, video game consoles and accessories, and Haul ASINs are excluded outright.

One more detail that catches sellers off guard: this program does not stack with Amazon’s separate New Seller Incentives program. If both apply to the same ASIN, the New Seller Incentives benefits get consumed first, and New Selection Program credits only kick in once those are exhausted or expired. If you are a newer seller running both programs, do not assume you are getting double credit on the same units.

What To Do Before October 31

This is a short list, but it is worth going through it now rather than in the last week of October when Seller Central support queues get slower around Prime Big Deal Days and Black Friday prep:

  • Check your enrollment status in the FBA New Selection dashboard inside Seller Central. Do not assume you are enrolled just because you were in the prior version of the program.
  • Confirm brand eligibility for anything you are planning to launch in Q4 or early Q1, especially if the product sits in a category near the borderline of the exclusion list.
  • Verify the 12-month new-to-FBA condition for each planned ASIN. If a competitor (or a past version of your own listing) shipped that same parent ASIN into FBA within the last year, it will not qualify no matter how you list it now.
  • Time your first inbound shipment deliberately. If you are close to the deadline and still deciding when to launch, getting that first FBA shipment in before October 31 with confirmed enrollment is the safer play than launching in November and hoping the paperwork catches up.

If you manage a portfolio with multiple brands or a mix of legacy and newly enrolled ASINs, it is worth building a simple tracker: ASIN, enrollment status, benefit window start date, and days remaining. It takes twenty minutes and saves you from finding out in January that a launch you were counting fee credits toward never actually got confirmed.

Frequently asked questions

Do I lose benefits I already earned if I miss the October 31 confirmation deadline?
No. Benefits already accrued on ASINs enrolled before the deadline stay intact. What you lose is eligibility for new branded ASINs launched after October 31 without a confirmed enrollment on file.

Does the New Selection Program apply to private label and wholesale sellers the same way?
The eligibility rules are the same for anyone selling a branded product new to FBA, regardless of business model, as long as the ASIN meets the 12-month new-to-FBA requirement and the other criteria above. Wholesale sellers listing an ASIN that has already been in FBA under another seller within the past year will not qualify.

Can I stack New Selection Program credits with New Seller Incentives?
Not really. The two programs do not run in parallel on the same units. New Seller Incentives get used up first, and New Selection Program (2026) benefits only start applying once those are exhausted or their window ends.

What happens to a product that was grandfathered under the old New Selection Program?
It keeps running under its original benefit schedule until that window closes or October 31 hits, whichever comes first. It does not automatically shift into the new 2026 rate structure, and no further legacy benefit accrues after October 31 regardless of how much of the original window was left.

Sorting out which of your launches actually qualify, and making sure the enrollment paperwork is done before the window closes, is exactly the kind of detail that is easy to miss when you are also managing PPC, inventory, and everything else Q4 throws at you.
