For years, running an Amazon business meant living inside Seller Central: tabbing between inventory, pricing, and advertising dashboards, logging in from your phone to check a stranded shipment, exporting reports just to understand your own numbers. At Accelerate 2026 in Seattle, Amazon announced it is changing that model in a pretty significant way. Sellers can now connect Anthropic’s Claude directly to their Seller Central account and run parts of their business through a chat interface instead of the usual dashboards.
What Amazon actually announced
The headline news out of Accelerate was a new plugin that lets independent sellers manage their Amazon business through Claude (and through Amazon’s own Quick assistant) rather than logging into the traditional Seller Central portal every time. According to Amazon executive Mary Beth Westmoreland, the integration was built to be modular, meaning Claude is the first outside AI agent to get this access, not the last.
Through the plugin, sellers can ask Claude to check inventory levels, adjust product prices, update listing content, and pull sales and performance analytics, all without opening a browser tab to sellercentral.amazon.com. Amazon says it cannot see other business data you keep inside your Claude account, and the connection only has access to what you specifically grant it.
How the setup actually works
This is not a developer project. Amazon says connecting the plugin takes about 60 seconds and requires no coding. During setup, you choose which data types the plugin can read and which actions it is allowed to take on your behalf. Every meaningful action, like changing a price or editing a listing, requires your approval before it executes. Nothing fires automatically in the background unless you have explicitly turned that on.
Right now the plugin is in beta and limited to Amazon’s US marketplace, with international rollout planned for later. If you sell primarily in the US, you can request access now; everyone else should expect this to show up in their marketplace eventually rather than immediately.
Alongside this, Amazon’s own Seller Assistant got smarter too
Separately, Amazon also upgraded its native in-platform Seller Assistant with a new canvas feature for live data visualizations and background automations that can monitor your business even when you are not logged in. That is Amazon’s own first-party AI layered on top of Seller Central. The Claude plugin is different: it is an outside assistant reaching into your account from wherever you already do your thinking and planning, rather than a tool bolted onto the Seller Central UI itself.
Amazon is also giving sellers a free 12-month subscription to Amazon Quick Plus through the end of 2026, which suggests the company wants adoption numbers on these AI tools quickly, not just a quiet pilot.
What this actually means for your day-to-day
The practical upside is less time spent context-switching. If you already use Claude for parts of your business, like drafting listing copy, analyzing search term reports, or planning PPC budgets, you can now fold account-level actions into that same workflow instead of bouncing back to Seller Central to execute every change.
The thing to watch is scope creep. Because approvals happen per action, it is worth being deliberate about what you grant access to early on. Start with read-only access (inventory levels, sales data) before granting write access to pricing or listings, especially on your higher-revenue ASINs. Treat the first few weeks as a trial period where you are watching what it does, not assuming it will behave exactly like you would.
- Good early use cases: inventory and restock monitoring, pulling performance summaries, drafting (not publishing) listing edits for your review
- Use with more caution at first: automatic price changes on your best sellers, bulk listing edits across a large catalog
- Worth confirming before you connect: exactly which data types and actions you are granting, since this is configurable per seller
Frequently asked questions
Is the Claude plugin for Seller Central free?
Amazon has not published separate pricing for the plugin itself as part of this announcement; it is being rolled out as part of the broader Accelerate 2026 toolset alongside the free 12-month Quick Plus subscription offer.
Does this replace Seller Central entirely?
No. It is an additional way to access and act on your account data, not a replacement for the dashboard. You can still log in directly whenever you want.
Will my account data be used to train AI models?
Amazon’s stated position is that it cannot see other business data outside what you grant the plugin access to, and the integration is scoped to specific data types and actions you approve. If this matters to your business, read the specific data-sharing terms before connecting rather than relying on summary coverage of the announcement.
Is this available outside the US yet?
Not yet. Amazon has said the beta is US marketplace only for now, with international availability planned later.
